Hydronic Loop (Boiler Heating)
A hydronic system heats water in a boiler and circulates it through a closed loop of pipes to radiators, baseboard units, or in-floor tubing to warm a home, rather than heating and moving air the way a furnace does. The water loop is sealed and reused continuously.
Why this matters to you
Hydronic heat is generally considered even and draft-free compared to forced air, but a boiler system doesn't include central air conditioning or air filtration built in — those need to be added separately if you want them.
Halton Hills note
A lot of older Halton Hills and Acton housing stock, especially century homes with cast-iron radiators, was built around hydronic heat and never converted to forced air — the loop itself can often be kept and modernized around a new, more efficient boiler rather than ripped out.
